Suggestions for use: After listening to the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' and learning and acting out the story through 'talk for writing', children then discuss the pictures as a whole class and in pairs sequence the story. Sequencing is vital as it is one of many skills that contributes to a child's ability to comprehend what they read. Sequencing is also an important component of problem-solving across subjects and therefore could be incorporated into a maths lesson.
