This note aims to get to the heart of the poem, Diving into the Wreck. It was prompted by a question from a student who was struggling with the poem's central meaning. Hopefully, it will be of some benefit to you, but when you have read it, do as Rich might say - find your own voice to experss your own ideas.

This is a Google Earth tour of significant locations relating to D.H. Lawrence's life. It will bring you travelling (albeit virtually) to countries where Lawrence spent his time. The nineteen locations also provide information about Lawrence's life and writings.
You will need to download Google Earth first. Then, once you unzip the file and double-click on it, it will open up automatically for you.
Be sure to drop into 'street view' for a closer look at the locations.

Suggestions for use: This tour will help you to get a sense of Lawrence's life and anchor places of significance pertaining to him.
These tours are not difficult to make in Google Earth, and once you have gone through the process, you could make one of your own. Travelling around and zooming in on locations makes the information more memorable and easier to recall.

This crossword will help students to expand their vocabulary. In week 1, they can do the crossword during class. A wordbank is included, but they will need to use a dictionary/digital device as they may not be familiar with some of the words. In week 2, they can redo the crossword without the aid of the wordbank. This will test their memory. The PDF includes all you need for both weeks, including the answer sheet.
It's important to note that these words have been collected from newspaper articles and culture supplements over time, so effectively, they are words which are in circulation, used by journalists.
The crossword was created for Wear a Word Week, in St. Louis High School.
