This crossword is designed to help students to expand their vocabulary. In week 1, they can do the crossword during class. A wordbank is included, but they will need to use a dictionary/digital device as they may not be familiar with some of the words. In week 2, they can redo the crossword without the aid of the wordbank. This will test their memory. The PDF includes all you need for both weeks, including the answer sheet.
It's important to note that these words have been collected from newspaper articles and culture supplements over time, so effectively, they are words which are in circulation, used by journalists.
The crossword was created for Wear a Word Week, in St. Louis High School.

This is a Google Earth tour of significant locations relating to Sylvia Plath's life. It will get the information off the page and bring you travelling (albeit virtually) between England and America, the two countries where Plath spent her time. Twelve locations are mapped, and information is provided about what happened at these places.
You will need to download Google Earth first. Then, once you unzip the file and double-click on it, it will open up automatically for you.
Be sure to drop into 'street view' for a closer look at the locations.
