Suggestions for use: Use these mats to place onto a magnetic surface - a whiteboard, a lid from a tin or a baking tray.
Students say the word and then find and match the initial sound to it.
Differentiation options are provided: e.g. for some children just provide the letters they will need, increase the number of letters provided based on ability.
Use for station teaching or as an early finisher activity once all single letter phonemes needed to complete the mat have been taught.
Could also use it for end sounds in the same way.
