Strand: Reading
Strand unit: Competence and Confidence in Using Language
Suggestions for use: Print, laminate and cut out these wheels for use during literacy stations e.g. during the power hour of literacy or literacy lift-off. Use clothes pegs to integrate a fine motor skill activity, or punch holes in each segment and have the children hang links from the four correct images.
Could be used as an assessment tool to check for ability to isolate and identify initial sounds in words, and to match the corresponding letter.
This resource would also be very suitable for use in small group teaching in an SEN or EAL classroom, especially to ensure the vocabulary necessary to complete the task is known.
