Children can recall the story at the beginning of the powerpoint to jog their memory. We created a storyboard prior to this and had been practising it with actions daily. The oowerpoint was formulated to allow the children to ask questions about how the boy might have felt on the moon and at various points about his trip. This supported their writing of a postcard to him during the final week of using this book.

Suggestions for use: This PPT was one of several used over the three weeks of this topic. By the end of it, 5 and 6 year olds were writing a postcard to the alien asking questions, using capital letters and full stops. As we were completing space in science, this book worked really well and children were very engaged. You could create a storyboard and retell the story every day using actions. This was similar to Pie Corbett's talk for writing. When it came time for children to fill in their own story board they all did very well.
