E-Learning Research Project

Please see the below for details:

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Keith Brennan, I’m an MSc student in DIT, and, as part of my research, I’m running a miniature, open online course in social media and educational technology.

The course is split into two parts. The first part is  a practical toolkit, that is designed to help those new to twitter and/or wordpress blogs get used to using them (it has hands on howtos, explanations,  demonstrations, and exercises that will help participants connect with each other over twitter
and blogs). That’s open from the 31st March for two weeks.

The second part is a series of seminars, blog and twitter events that talk about, and demonstrate different educational and pedagogical aspects of social media – we talk about digital literacy, digital curation, online
privacy and content ownership, and the revised digital version of Bloom’s Taxonomy and the tools that fit with it. That course runs for a week, 1 hour an evening, plus whatever time people want to devote to the online conversations that follow.

There will be something of an Irish focus, and we are really eager to have any and all educators join in. The research focus is on those new to social media, but we really want to involve as many people as possible. If you know of anyone who fits either bill, we’d really love if you could pass on the
information, and if it’s something your organisation, and readers might be interested in, please consider posting our info on your site, via email, over twitter, or anywhere else you feel.

The website is moocie.org, and that has all the signup info, and our flyer(with links, info, and dates)  is at https://www.smore.com/e185 . And I can be contacted at keith@moocie.org, or via twitter, @wiltwhatman. I’m eager to answer any questions.

Thanks for your time, and I’d love to see you at the course,

Keith Brennan
